The Guild Singers was formed in 1980. It is a mixed voice choir of about 40 singers who perform about three concerts a year. Mostly these take place in St. Laurence’s church in Chorley. The choir was formed with the aim of singing the whole range of music both accompanied and a capella; from the renaissance music of Byrd and Tallis to great oratorios such as Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” and Handel’s ” Messiah”. More recent performances have included Verdi's Requiem, Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas and John Stainer’s The Crucifixion. On the lighter side we enjoy singing a wide variety of arrangements of well-known pop, folk and jazz.
